The People’s Transition in Enniscorthy, County Wexford

About the project

Beginning in September 2022, the intention of the project was to listen to, and learn from, the community’s needs and abilities in Enniscorthy and then attempt to design a number of solutions that would benefit the community.

What we heard:

  • There is a need for sustainable employment opportunities in the town.

  • A lack of amenities means people are spending money outside of the town.

  • A sense that Enniscorthy has been overlooked by decision-makers at a local and national level.

Proposed Climate Solutions:

“I met Kieran Harrahill when he started working with Enniscorthy for TASC… Kieran taught me a lot about social justice and the power in asking broad questions across the community. We have learned some powerful lessons from the TASC report on how people are made feel. My motto from the sustainable development goals is to leave no one behind and this was really evident in the work that Kieran did in the town. I feel while TASC were in town they united all voluntary groups and got really good discussions going between groups in the town while linking in how local business can help realise some of the projects. I would love if Kieran could keep in touch with Enniscorthy and ensure they are travelling far down the Green Road while ensuring our social justice and our air pollution are addressed and the connection with the Sustainable group in Enniscorthy is encouraged. Thank you and I look forward to your recommendations being implemented.”
